US Open tennis betting does not have the richest history or longest traditions among the Grand Slam events. It does not boast a distinguished list of champions dating back centuries and a bet on the US Open is not generally at the head of the most prestigious tennis events. But tradition be damned, the US Open tennis is simply one of the greatest sporting events in the world.

US Open tennis has been around for a long time but it seemed to take much longer for this Grand Slam event to find its true identify than the others. Anyone that has bet on the US Open for more than several decades is all too aware of all the changes that have happened in the sports book throughout the years. Some fans might be surprised to know that US Open tennis betting lines have been around since 1881.

However, no one would confuse the inaugural 1881 US Open tennis betting event with the current incarnation of the event. For one thing, the original US Open tennis event was held on grass. As were the subsequent bet on the US Open matches for nearly a century. It wasn’t until 1975 that the US Open tennis betting was held on a surface other than grass.

But again, anyone that bas bet on the US Open might be surprised to learn that it wasn’t until the 1978 edition of the US Open tennis that the familiar hard courts became the surface of choice. From the years 1975-1977 the US Open was actually held on clay courts. But after a nearly 100 years of searching for its true identify the US Open tennis competition seems to have found itself in its present incarnation.

The USTA Billie Jean King National tennis center has been the home of the US Open tennis event for over thirty years now and seems a perfect fit. New York loves tennis and it’s one of biggest events of the year for the Big Apple.

The US Open tennis betting is also one of the most accessible Grand Slam events as well. Every type of person from every different ethnicity, race, socio-economic background and interest level pour into the event every year. The fashion at the US Open tennis is also very expressive and gives the event a distinct, laid back and populist feel that is far from the other Grand Slam events.
