March 25th, 2021 Tennis Betting

Wimbledon betting on the last Grand Slam event of the season is very exciting with odds on both the men’s and women’s side of the draw. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam event on grass and that presents some interesting gambling options as you look at the Wimbledon betting site. Wimbledon betting has a long tradition and in recent years the champions have defended their titles a great deal.

The tradition at Wimbledon dates back to 1877 at the All England Club.  There are five main events held at Wimbledon although the only ones that get any attention at the Wimbledon betting site at the men’s and women’s singles. Also held though are men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The main Wimbledon options apply to the men’s and women’s singles. These matches in Wimbledon are best of three on the women’s side and best of five on the men’s side.

Wimbledon betting begins each year on the Monday between June 20th and June 26th. A total of 128 players are part of the Wimbledon betting field on the men’s and women’s side of the draw. A total of 32 male and female players are given seeds and these are the players that are bet the most often at the Wimbledon site. Only two unseeded players have ever won in Wimbledon . They were Boris Becker in 1985 and Goran Ivanisevic in 2001. In reality though only Ivanisevic was the upset winner as in 1985 there were only 16 seeds and Becker was ranked 20th. Ivansievic was ranked 125th when he won in 2001. No unseeded player has ever won in Wimbledon on the women’s side. The lowest seed to win for gamblers at the Wimbledon site was Venus Williams who won in 2007 as the 23rd seed.

Wimbledon betting has not seen a British player win a singles title since 1977. In fact, no British player has even made the final in Wimbledon since that time. The hope in 2008 for the British in Wimbledon is Andy Murray.
