Couture Wins in UFC Betting

March 22nd, 2021 UFC Betting

UFC betting had Randy Couture taking out Mark Coleman in UFC 109. Couture was heavily favored in UFC odds and he did not disappoint, catching Coleman in a rear naked choke to win. UFC betting was very popular on UFC 109 as more than 10,000 showed up at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.  It was a good card of fights in UFC betting led by Couture taking out Coleman.  The fight of the night was Chael Sonnen upsetting Nate Marquardt in UFC odds.  The Knockout of the Night was Matt Serra catching Frank Trigg in the first round while Paulo Thiago got Submission of the night, defeating Mike Swick.

The win by Couture in UFC betting probably ended Coleman’s career in the UFC.  It may also have put Couture into the title picture once again. Coleman just looked old while Couture has proven that he can still be a title contender.

The win by Sonnen was a big upset in UFC betting.  Sonnen dominated Marquardt for much of the fight before nearly losing it late.  Sonnen could be in line for a big UFC betting fight against champion Anderson Silva.  If Silva defeats Belfort as expected in UFC betting in UFC 112, he would probably be matched up against Sonnen next.

Also in UFC 109 it was Demian Maia coming through as a big favorite in UFC odds as he defeated Dan Miller.  It was Paul Thiago upsetting Mike Swick in UFC odds.  Matt Serra took out Frank Trigg in a first round TKO that should put Trigg out of the UFC for a while.  Serra is likely going to want a fight against Matt Hughes soon.  Not many can go toe to toe with Serra as Trigg learned very quickly.

On the preliminary card in UFC 109 it was Chris Tuchsherer winning an unpopular majority decision over Tim Hague. Rookie Phil Davis looked great as he dominated Brian Stann.  Davis definitely has the potential to be a UFC star within a couple of years. Other winners were Mac Danzig, Melvin Guillard and Rob Emerson.  Rolles Gracie was supposed to be an easy winner but he wasn’t ready to fight past the first round and lost to Joey Beltran in the second round.

Overall, UFC 109 had some excellent action and some great wagering.  The next UFC action will be on Saturday, February 20th headlined by Cain Velasquez facing Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
