No matter what some MMA fans and fight purists might tell you there is simply nothing in the fighting sports like a heavyweight smack down and the upcoming UFC 121 odds competition will feature the mother of all heavyweight smack downs when heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar puts his title on the line against up and coming challenger Cain Velasquez.
And anyway you frame this fight it’s impossible not to conclude that it’s one of the top three UFC contests this calendar year, if not the match of the year so far. It may be that this matchup will be a flop once the two fighters enter the Octagon; ending either in a major mismatch or both men failing to score points, but on paper this is one fight that you don’t want to miss.
On Saturday October 23rd when the UFC 121 odds action gets underway in Anaheim MMA fans will be left wanting nothing as they will get to see two of the most exciting fighters in the world try and beat each other’s brains in.
Velasquez is undefeated so far in his brilliant young MMA career (8-0; 5-0-1 in UFC action) and is one of the top challengers in the world; Sherdog has him listed as the #4 heavyweight challenger.
Lesnar, as everyone knows, is the undisputed heavyweight champion heading into the UFC 121 betting action and has quickly become the most exciting MMA fighter on the planet. The mix or raw power, athleticism and celebrity have made him a sporting sensation and he’ll be the major draw in the UFC 121 betting just as he’s been in each the previous UFC Main Events he’s participated in. After losing his first UFC match against Frank Mir, Lesnar hasn’t looked back wining 4 straight matches against the best heavyweights in the world.
He’ll be looking to run his winning streak to 5 in the UFC 121 odds action and seems likely to do it. As good as Velasquez is, it just seems like Lesnar is bigger and stronger and has a major power advantage.
That being said, Cain is a tremendous puncher and has 7 KOs in his 8 MMA wins and could provide and interesting challenger for Lesnar in the UFC 121 betting action.
