UFC 122 Betting Spotlight: No Big Names but Plenty of Action

February 10th, 2021 UFC Betting

It’s tough to play encore to classic heavyweight title matchup like Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez but that’s exactly what the fighters in the upcoming UFC 122 betting action have to do.

In what might have been the anticipated fight of the year Velasquez beat the tar out of the much bigger Lesnar, handing the champ 1st round TKO and earning the Velasquez the heavyweight title.

In comparison, the UFC 112 odd main event between middleweights Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami is nowhere near that level of hype.  There will be no belts on the line and there won’t be a lot of big names in the UFC 122 betting action.  But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be plenty of terrific MMA fighting action.

Marquardt is a tremendous fighter and the type competitor that no one wants to face in the Octagon.  He’s had his share of battles in the UFC (30-9-2) and the winner of this Main Event is likely next in line to get a shot at the middleweight title.  Yushin Okami, perhaps the top MMA fighter in Japan (25-5) and will be more than ready for his fight with Marquardt and anxious to a get shot at getting his brains beat in by Anderson Silva.

But there’s a lot more to this UFC 122 betting card than just the Main event.  And even though there may not be a signature superstar on the card there are some very intriguing matchups and fans will likely be treated to some great action.

One fight in the UFC 122 odds that you don’t want to miss is the other middleweight matchup between American Jorge Rivera against Italian Alessio Sakara.  Sakara is the top Italian fighter in MMA and he should have plenty of support from his homeland in Oberhausen, Germany.

This is just the second time that a UFC Main Event has been in Germany and just the second such event that will be held on continental Europe.  This event comes just a month after the UFC 120 Main Event held in London.  Both events were heavy on international fighters and a great way of promoting the sport in Europe.
