The welterweight division in MMA action isn’t necessarily the glamour division but in the upcoming UFC 122 betting event you’re likely to see the best fighting in this weight class as there’s plenty of fights to choose from.
Of the 11 scheduled fights in the UFC 122 odds action four of them will be welterweight fights –more than any other weight class. The Main Event will feature middleweights Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami, and while there are several other interesting middleweight matchups on the card, the welterweight division is where it’s at in terms of UFC 122 betting action.
On the Main Card fans will get to see American Amir Sadollah take on German Peter Sorbotta. This will be no easy task for Sadollah –the more highly regarded fighter- as Sorbotta will be fighting on his home soil with the hopes of an entire nation’s MMA hopes riding on him. But Sadollah is all but a lock to take down Sorbotta who’s 8-3 in his MMA career but is coming 0-2 in the UFC competition and is coming off 2 straight losses to mediocre competition.
Sadollah is the winner of the Ultimate Fighter 7 but he’s just 3-2 in his UFC career and coming off a loss to Korean Don Hyun Kim. Nonetheless, he should be able to handle his German competition.
On the undercard there are three welterweight fights, each featuring intriguing UFC 122 betting angles.
German Pascal Krauss will take on Englishman Mark Scanlon, American Duane Ludwig will battle Englishman Nick Osipczak, and American Kris McCray will fight against Brazilian Carlos Eduardo Rocha.
Scanlon is a perfect 7-0 heading into the UFC 122 betting competition as is the 9-0 Krauss who will be fighting in front of his hometown crowd so to speak. One of these men will live the Octagon with his first career loss and this has the potential to the Fight of the Night.
Between Ludwig (19-11) and Osipczak (5-2) there’s a huge disparity in experience and Osipczak is coming off two straight defeats but he’s faced superior competition and should handle Ludwig.
When McCray and Rocha take to the canvas, anything could happen. This will be his first UFC Main Event fight coming off a loss in the Ultimate Fighter 11 Final. Very little is known about Rocha other than the fact that he’s 8-0 in MMA competitions and will also be fighting in his first UFC Main Event.
