Whether you’re talking about boxing, wrestling UFC betting, you name it, the most exciting weight division is the heavyweight division.
It always has been and it always will be. Seeing huge men clash in the ring or the octagon is about as inspiring as it gets in the world of sport and nothing can top a great heavyweight match up.
In the UFC odds competition, however, it’s been some time since there’s been a great champion or even a decent level of competition. But with the recent changing of the belt a golden era of heavyweight fighting seems to have gotten underway in the UFC.
Newly crowned heavyweight champion of the world Brock Lesnar, defending this title for just the 3rd time was soundly beaten by a much smaller but a much better Cain Velasquez. Velasquez dominated the fight for the UFC Heavyweight title last month and firmly established himself as the top heavyweight fighter in the sport.
At least until the rematch.
Or until someone better comes along, which might not be that far off in the future. Velasquez is an impressive fighter and many UFC betting gurus think he might have the resolve and skill to stay on top of the weight division for some time. In the history of the UFC no heavyweight fighter has held the title for long and this weight division is notorious for its high turnover at the top.
Velasquez is an extremely dedicated fighter with near perfect technique and he’s got great fighting smarts in the Octagon. However, Lesnar is larger and much more powerful, although highly inexperienced. Once his fighting skills catch up with his raw talent he’ll be a very formidable challenge for the slightly undersized Velasquez.
But Lesnar is hardly the only challenger in the heavyweight UFC betting action that could lay claim to the title. Junior dos Santos a young and exciting Brazilian fighter with a 6-0 record will get his shot at the title shortly. He has destroyed the competition at every level so far and it’s just a matter of time before we see a Velasquez vs. dos Santos fight, possibly even for the UFC Heavyweight title. American John Madsen (7-0) is another up and coming heavyweight that should make this division the one watch in the coming months.
