The ‘Viking Mauler’ Gustaffson has stated his hope that a win over Teixeira will land him a shot at the light heavyweight title. Oezdemir has burst into the MMA scene more swiftly than a cuckoo bird springing out of a Swiss clock. “Now that I’m in the UFC, people see me differently,” he told BJ Penn Radio. “People sort of respect me more and stuff like that.” Before that they probably just thought he was Claudio Castagnoli.
Cirkunov is undefeated in the UFC, going 4-0 since debuting at Fight Night 74 on August 23, 2015. The Latvian-Canadian by way of Russian is on an eight-fight winning streak dating back to Fivestar FL 9: Northern Nightmare in March 2012. Following Cirkunov’s win over Nikita Krylov in December, White said he was not “interested” in Cirkunov. “I’m done. He knows I’m done. I made it very clear I’m done,” the UFC president added. He must be something if he can make White backtrack.
