September 16th, 2019 UFC Betting

Here are the sports gambling lines for the UFC on Fox 23 main event featuring Julianna Peña taking on Valentina Shevchenko on Saturday, January 28th at the Pepsi Center in Colorado, courtesy of SBG Global offshore online gambling sportsbook:

Julianna Peña 4½ (-175) -110
Valentina Shevchenko   4½ (+155) -110

Sports Gambling Lines New Year’s resolution

Peña’s New Year’s resolution is to become UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and she hopes to start 2017 on the right foot with a win over Shevchenko. Robert Browning said that a man’s reach should exceed his grasp, and in this the 21st century, a woman’s as well. Nevertheless, the Venezuelan Vixen might want to start out small. How about aiming for one of them ‘interim titles’ first? Peña, however, is not looking past Shevchencko. If anything, she’s looking a little too attentively at Shevchenko. Peña revealed on Luke Thomas’ show on SiriusXM Rush that she’s “literally obsessed with” the Peruvian/Russian/Kyrgyzstani muay thai fighter.

Peña’s Obsession

Obsessed like Jennifer Jason Leigh was obsessed with Bridget Fonda in Single White Female? Here’s hoping. “I think about her morning, noon and night. I watch her videos, her favorite food is pizza. She likes to salsa on her off time,” Peña said. And the less said about whether Shevchenko has a social security number and what that number is the better. Does Peña want to fight this girl or steal her identity? Stay tuned at SBG offshore online gambling sportsbook to find out.

 Sports gambling lines bracket

On the other side of the sports gambling lines bracket, Shevchenko is the more experienced of the two, both in UFC and in general (though Peña is undefeated in UFC contests). In her previous fight, Shevchenko beat Holly Holm into the featherweight division. The Russian may draw extra motivation from the fact that the bout against Peña will likely be a number one contender’s match, with the winner going on to fight bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes. Nunes beat Shevchenko by unanimous decision at UFC 196 on March 5th, 2016. If we know Shevchenko – and we don’t – she is going to want to gain revenge on the Brazilian Lioness, and to do that, first she has to go through Peña. The UFC on Fox 23 headliner looks like it’s going to be a classic striker versus grappler match-up – sort of like Ali vs. Inoki in ’76, only not really.

Peña to go straight for the legs

Offshore online gambling experts expect Peña to go straight for the legs in order to ground and pound or submit Shevchenko – either way, the Vixen will want to keep it short and sweet, since the Russian may have more stamina to go the full five rounds. That will be easier said than done, though; Shevchenko earned her ‘Bullet’ moniker because of her speed. All things considered, regardless of the sports gambling lines and of who gets her hand raised at the end of the bout, both fighters could be end up as winners – the two new stars after the shakedown that the UFC women’s division has gone through after Ronda Rousey’s implosion and Miesha Tate’s retirement.
