UFC on Saturday, March 27th are highlighted by a welterweight title bout between Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy. While the UFC betting odds heavily favor St. Pierre, anything can happen. St. Pierre believes that Hardy is a worthy opponent and he will not overlook him.
UFC odds have St. Pierre as about an 8-1 favorite to defeat Hardy in UFC 111. Normally in UFC betting you don’t have a marquee fight with those types of odds. St. Pierre is so well respected though that most people don’t believe he can be beaten in UFC betting, especially in the welterweight division. Hardy is next in line to get his shot against St. Pierre. Hardy is 23-6 in his MMA career and 4-0 in UFC odds. He recently beat Mike Swick at UFC 105.
St. Pierre is not looking past Hardy in UFC odds and believes he is a worthy challenger. It could also be that St. Pierre has no choice as he has already beaten Jon Fitch, Thiago Silva and Josh Koscheck. St. Pierre is 19-2 overall and 13-2 in his UFC betting career. He believes Hardy is a good challenger. “He deserves it,” St-Pierre said. “He’s undefeated in the UFC, and he’s a great challenge for me. He’s a top-10 guy, and we haven’t fought yet. Most of the contenders at 170 pounds are guys I’ve already fought.” St. Pierre has already beaten Matt Serra and Matt Hughes and he has beaten BJ Penn twice. There is just nothing for him at the welterweight division in UFC odds. Some people want him to move up and take on Anderson Silva in the middleweight division.
St. Pierre has said that he really wants quality opponents and that is why he seems to be talking up Hardy in this UFC odds matchup. “I’m the kind of guy that the reason why I fight mostly three times a year – I don’t fight anymore five times a year – is that every time I fight, it’s a big fight. I prefer it like this because I want to get the big fish,” said St. Pierre.
If you are looking at the UFC odds for this bout you might want to consider the knockout option. St. Pierre has said he wants to improve his knockout game. “I’m not satisfied about my ratio of knockouts,” St. Pierre said, “I have knockouts, but I want to bring my ratio up. I’m more powerful than I was, and by being more powerful I’m faster as well. Power is strength and speed together.”
