UFC Odds Spotlight: UFC 124 Features Action Packed Lineup. When the curtain finally drops on the UFC 124 Main event in Quebec on December 11th long wait will have been worth as the UFC action for this event is as good as it’s been in months. 2010 has been a fantastic year for UFC betting and this event simply continues the great matchups and closes the year on a high point.
The Main Event features Quebec native and Welterweight World Champion, Georges St Pierre (22-2). St Pierre is the #1 ranked pound per pound fighter in the world according to Yahoo and the #2 pound per pound fighter in world according to the Sherdog rankings. Any way you slice it this guy and Middleweight World Champion Anderson Silva are the top tow fighters in the UFC action and neither has lost a title defense in years.
GSP has been champion so long that the UFC has had to recycle challengers. He meet up with Josh Koschek in the UFC betting action, a man he lasted faced and defeated in August 2007. Expect the same result at the UFC 124 event.
Also on the main card is perennial welterweight contender Thiago Alves. Alves has hit a bit of a rough patch of late losing his title shot against St Pierre last year and then surprisingly was beaten by Jon Fitch in his last bout at UFC 117 by unanimous decision. He’s in a must win situation against John Howard, an unheralded but potentially dangerous opponent with plenty of UFC odds experience and a 14-5 record.
Another matchup to watch for is heavyweight bout between Dutchman Stefan Struve and American Sean McCorkle. With the all the turnover at the top of the heavyweight division you never who might end up with a title shot and the winner of this fight just might get a shot at the title sooner rather than later.
Neither is a remarkable fighter, but the two matching up well, nor this could end up being the Fight of the Night in the UFC odds action if they both come out aggressive. At 20-4 Struve has the edge in terms of experience but McCorkle is a fighter on the rise and with a perfect 10-0 record in MMA (1-0 in UFC bouts) he could have a very bright future in the sport.
