UFC odds have seen a wide variety of champions throughout the years. The UFC betting line has seen heavy favorites win and big underdogs come through.
Let’s take a look at winners in UFC. UFC odds really didn’t get popular until the 2000’s but the sport dates back to the early 1990’s. UFC betting line really saw champs in the late 1990’s. Mark Coleman won the UFC heavyweight title in 1997 and later champions that year were Mark Coleman, Maurice Coleman and the popular Randy Couture. Couture held the title until Bas Rutten won it in 1999. Kevin Randleman took the title later that year while Couture began his second reign as UFC odds champ in 2000.
Josh Barnett won the title in UFC odds in 2002 while Ricco Rodriguez also held the crown in 2002. Tim Sylvia won in UFC odds in 2003 while Frank Mir won in UFC odds in 2004. Andrei Arlovski won in 2005 while Sylvia took back the title in 2006. Rand Couture was the UFC betting line champ in 2007. It was his third reign as UFC Heavyweight champ. UFC show that the first light heavyweight champ was Frank Shamrock in 1997. He held that title until Tito Ortiz won versus the UFC betting line in 2000.
Randy Couture won the title in 2003 and held it until Vitor Belfort won in 2004. Couture was the UFC champ again in 2004 while Chuck Liddell won the title in 2005. Quinton Jackson won the title in 2007 and is the current UFC champ in the light heavyweight division. UFC odds show that the middleweight championship didn’t start until 2001 when Dave Menne won. Murilo Bustamante won in 2002 although that title was later taken away. Evan Tanner won in 2005 while Rich Franklin also won that year. Anderson Silva won in 2006 and still holds the title.
The Welterweight title in UFC betting line odds was first won by Pat Miletich in 1998. Carlos Newton won in 2001. Matt Hughes also won in 2001 while B.J. Penn won in 2004 and later had his title stripped. Hughes won again in 2004 while Georges St. Pierre won in 2006. Matt Serra won in 2007. The Lightweight champ was Jens Pulver in 2001. Sean Sherk won in 2006 while B.J. Penn won in 2008.
