UFC betting on Cain Velasquez was very popular in UFC 110 this past Saturday and the action on him in the future is likely to increase since he was a very impressive winner over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. The heavyweight division is starting to look very talented and Velasquez is now a serious threat to win the heavyweight title in UFC odds.
UFC betting had Velasquez knocking out Nogueira in the first round on Saturday in UFC 110. Velasquez caught Nogueira with a powerful right hand just over two minutes into the fight. With the victory in UFC betting, Velasquez is now poised to get a title shot. He will probably have to wait a little bit though since Frank Mir and Shane Carwin are fighting for the interim heavyweight title at UFC 111. The winner of that fight in UFC odds is expected to face heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar this summer. Velasquez with his victory in UFC odds has also moved into the picture. “Because of Brock’s absence, it’s a little plugged up right now in the heavyweight division, but this guy?” UFC President Dana White said. “In my opinion, Nogueira’s probably the best heavyweight of all time, and [Velasquez] absolutely demolished him tonight. He’s for real, and he’s in the line right now.”
Velasquez believes he is ready for a shot at the title after his win over Nogueira in UFC 110. “I think so,” Velasquez said. “Whatever the UFC says, I’m going to be ready for it.” Velasquez has been very impressive in this career and only one of his fights has gone to a decision. “I’m getting better,” Velasquez said. “I really pride myself in working hard, always improving, and I think I’d have to be my best to fight those guys, so that’s what I’m going to do.”
Velasquez is already thinking about a potential fight against Lesnar in UFC odds. “For me, I have to fight a smart fight and get with my coaches and figure out a good game plan,” Velasquez said. “Definitely, with those kind of guys — super big, strong — you’ve really got to worry about the power. I think this could be a war; you’ve really got to fight to the end. You’ve gotta really try to tire them out, but that’s easier said than done, but that’s how I see me going.”
