UFC odds, as with any fighting sport, are full of terrific fighters. But the age old question of any of any combat sport is: who is the best pound for pound fighter in the sport?
It’s obviously impossible to answer the question but in this age of rich talent it sure is fun to try and pick the best of the best in the sportsbook competition.
UFC are arguably as full of talent as they’ve ever been. Do to the increased profile of the UFC betting odds the sport is attracting more and more top athletes and there are more talented fighters than ever before in the UFC. In fact, it would be safe to say that the competition in the UFC odds right now is the best it’s ever been. Which fighter, then, is the best of the best, pound for pound in the UFC ?
One name that is always mentioned in this UFC betting odds conversation is Anderson Silva. It would be very difficult to say that Silva is not the best fighter in the UFC . Consider that Silva has not lost a UFC event in almost four years, or consider that he’s held the UFC middleweight title since 2006 –longer than any other title holder in the UFC betting odds. He’s also bounced around weight classes and kicked butt in those UFC odds as well. The Brazilian has won 10 straight UFC events over super talented competition and will likely retire the undisputed champ in at least one weight category.
The only other fighter that poses any real claim to the title of best pound for pound fighter in the UFC odds is the tough little Canadian Georges St. Pierre. This guy has been counted out nearly every time he’s defended his UFC odds welterweight belt. And all he does is prove the doubters wrong and win one UFC odds title defense after another. What makes St. Pierre’s claim to the title of best fighter in the sport so credible is the fact that he’s beaten talented fighters in his match ups. Names like Alves, Penn, Sera and Hughes have all gone down in UFC odds defeat after tangling with St Pierre.
Certainly there are many talented fighters in the UFC betting odds, but pound for pound you will not find any two fighters, pound for pound, better than Silva or St. Pierre. Between these two it’s anyone’s guess, but there is little doubt that they’re on a different level of talent when it comes to the UFC odds.
