Bet on WNBA history has had some moments that are worth remembering as we read about it.  The WNBA league began in 1997 and WNBA odds were available at the sportsbook shortly thereafter.  Other important moments are also noteworthy in bet on WNBA history.

WNBA history shows that in 1996 it was Sheryl Swoopes who became the first player signed by the league.   The first season of WNBA odds had Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento and Utah.   The first ever game in WNBA odds had New York defeating Los Angeles 67-57 in 1997.  The first champion in bet on WNBA action was the Houston Comets in 1997 as they defeated the New York Liberty.

In 1997 it was announced that Detroit and Washington would join the bet on WNBA field in 1998.  In 1998 two more teams were added to the bet on WNBA board as Orlando and Minnesota joined for the next year bringing the total to 12 in online betting.  The 1998 championship was a best of three and Phoenix won the first game but lost the next two as Houston won in bet on WNBA action for the second straight year.  In 1999 the team announced four more teams for the 2000 season as Indiana, Miami, Portland and Seattle joined. That made the total in sports betting odds of 16 teams.

In 1999 it was Houston winning their third straight title in bet on WNBA history as they defeated New York again.  Houston repeated that performance in 2000 to win their fourth straight title.  In 2001 the Los Angeles Sparks became the first team in bet on WNBA history to go unbeaten at home, finishing 16-0 at STAPLES Center.  The Sparks won the title that year as well in WNBA odds.   The Sparks won the next year as well, defeating the Liberty.  In 2003 the Utah Starz became the San Antonio Silver Stars and the Connecticut Sun were awarded the Orlando Miracle franchise.

The Detroit Shock won the 2003 title as they beat the Los Angeles Sparks in front of a sell out crowd and record attendance for the WNBA of 22,076.  In 2004 it was the Seattle Storm winning in bet on WNBA action as they defeated the Connecticut Sun in the final.  The Sacramento Monarchs won in 2005 while the Detroit Shock won their second title in 2006.  The Phoenix Mercury won in 2007 as they upset Detroit while the Shock won in 2008, getting their third bet on WNBA title.
