WNBA Action Heats Up the Week

WNBA Action Heats Up the Week
August 19th, 2024 Online Wagering, WNBA Betting Odds

Following the Olympic break, WNBA betting resumed with a solid slate of games. But this week, the WNBA offers nightly action on TV and at the betting window. The New York Liberty and the Connecticut Sun continue to dominate the Eastern Conference. In comparison, the Western Conference has an exciting 3-team race with the Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, and Seattle Storm. Las Vegas is the 2-time defending WBNA champion but has had a relatively lackluster season. Of great concern is that the Aces are in the red. In like manner, the Liberty and Sun are unprofitable, too.

Vegas Not Coming Up Aces

The Las Vegas Aces have been a source of online wagering frustration. Specifically, their past success is taking a toll on the hardwood and at the payout window. Las Vegas is 16-8 straight up but only 10-14 against the spread. Late on, the Aces got the money in only two of their most recent six games. Three of their last four games went under the total. The Aces are the top-scoring team in the WNBA. However, the WNBA’s 7th-ranked scoring defense offsets much of the scoring.

Namely, A’ja Wilson remains the top WNBA betting asset on the Aces. Wilson leads Las Vegas with 27.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Also factoring in is Jackie Young, with 18.5 points and 5.5 assists per contest. And then Kelsey Plum adds 18.4 points and 4.7 assists per game. If the Aces tighten up defensively, they will be a difficult out in the playoffs.

Minnesota Lynx

The Minnesota Lynx leads the Western Conference. Minnesota is 18-8 straight up, 15-10-1 against the spread, and 8-16-2 under the total. In comparison to Las Vegas, Minnesota uses the opposite approach for success. Minnesota ranks 7th in the WNBA for scoring offense but 2nd for points allowed. Correlate that Minnesota’s approach could prove effective in the WNBA Playoffs.

Of great concern is that the Lynx have cooled off against the board. Minnesota got the cash in only two of its most recent seven games.First among Minnesota scorers is Napheesa Collier, with 19.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest. Kayla McBride adds 16.2 points per contest.

Seattle Storm

Also factoring in the West is the Seattle Storm. Seattle is 17-9 straight up, 15-11 against the spread, and 11-14-1 under the total. Late on, Seattle visited the cashier’s cage in only two of its previous seven games. Jewell Loyd leads Seattle with 20.2 points per contest.
