WNBA Playoffs Begin with Liberty and Aces Top Favorites

At the onset of the WNBA betting postseason, the New York Liberty is the favorite to win the 2024 championship. New York is the top seed for the WNBA Playoffs and had the best record in the regular season. However, that did not translate into profits against the house. Instead, the Liberty was in the red as a break-even team with the odds. Of course, the Las Vegas Aces are the 2-time defending WNBA champions. The Aces had a good but not great year. In like manner to New York, Las Vegas was in the red.

Las Vegas Aces

Las Vegas finished with a WNBA betting record of 27-13 straight up, 18-20-1 against the spread, and 16-23 under the total. Late on, Vegas was the hottest team on the board, not losing against the line in its final ten games. Also, the Aces wet under the total in seven of its final eight matchups. Las Vegas ranked 1st for scoring offense and 6th for points allowed. First among Las Vegas scorers was the veteran great A’ja Wilson, with 26.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.

Minnesota Lynx

Overall, the Minnesota Lynx is 30-10 straight up, 25-14-1 against the spread, and 15-23 under the total. Minnesota had the best record in the Western Conference. The Lynx ranked sixth for scoring offense and second for points allowed. Late on, Minnesota covered four of its final five games. Minnesota went under the total in six of its final nine regular season games. Napheesa Collier leads Minnesota with 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest.

Indiana Fever

Following a slow start, the Indiana Fever finished strong and made the playoffs. Indiana finished 20-20 straight up and 21-18-1 against the spread with 26-14 over the total. Indiana ranked 3rd in the WNBA for scoring offense and 11th for points allowed. Namely, Caitlin Clark led Indiana with 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game. Of great concern is the poor Indiana defense, which was a drag on its value. Indiana covered only one of its final seven games. Additionally, the Fever went over the total in seven of their final nine regular season games.
