WNBA Resumes Thursday & Runs Through Weekend

WNBA Resumes Thursday & Runs Through Weekend

Following the Olympic break, WNBA betting resumes on Thursday with a strong lineup of games and TV action. The 2-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty remain the co-favorites to win the championship. Meanwhile, the main story continues to be the rivalry between rookies Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever and Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. There is more debate about Clark and Reese for WNBA Rookie of the Year than the championship. Clark and Reese are battling for a playoff spot. Of course, the league and its partners would love nothing more.

New York Liberty

Although the New York Liberty have the best record in the WNBA, they have not been good online betting value. New York is in the red at 12-13 against the spread despite a straight-up record of 21-4. However, the Liberty began to send gamblers to the payout window right before the Olympic break. New York covered six of its most recent eight games. The Liberty went under the total in five of their last seven games.

So far, Sabrina Ionescu leads the Liberty with 19.4 points and 6.2 assists per game. Also factoring is Breanna Stewart with 19.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. And then Jonquel Jones is another WNBA betting asset with 15.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Connecticut Sun

In like manner to the Liberty, the Connecticut Sun is 18-6 straight up and 10-14 against the spread. Connecticut is the best defensive team in the WNBA, but its offense ranks a pedestrian 8th. Of great concern is that Connecticut limped into the Olympic break with only three payouts in its final ten games.

DeWanna Bonner leads the Sun with 17.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest. Second in scoring for the Sun is Brionna Jones with 13.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese

So far this season, Caitlin Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game. Clark’s one weakness is her 5.6 turnovers per contest. Indiana covered three of its final five games before the break. Of major concern is a defense ranks 11th for points allowed.

Namely, Angel Reese is averaging 13.5 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. Her rebounding has commanded attention and respect. Chicago covered four of its last seven games before the Olympic break.
